Skillsbase is Leek College's dedicated Apprenticeship provider. As specialists in our field, we are totally committed to ensuring that when you become an Apprentice, we provide you with a great experience during your time with us.
We have strong links with around 400 local employers and build long standing relationships with them. This means we can identify the job roles of the future and are able to offer you the very best placements around, taking time to get the most suitable match for both the employer and you, the Apprentice. Plus, we know the skills that employers want, so you will always receive up to date training that will help to get you into employment.
As an Apprentice you will spend one day a week on day release with us at Leek College. All our Apprentices receive their own tutor who are industry specialists and they are there to support, guide and train. They take this responsibility seriously and want you to not only progress but enjoy yourself!

The HUB
Our brand new HUB is a large, well-equipped facility where friendly, specialist staff are always available to help you.
Computers / Internet
A large and well-equipped computer facility where you can access our college network and other web-based resources and e-mail during your study and free time. You can register your laptop or wireless devise to access FREENET, our free wireless network.
Library
A well stocked library with approximately 18,000 books relating to the courses we offer and a comprehensive collection of journals, CDs and DVDs as well as daily and local newspapers and a digital camera loan service. You can search and reserve items using our on-line catalogue and books not held in our library can be sourced from Leek Library which is right next door to the
college, or from libraries further afield.
Study Areas
The HUB has study areas which you can use at any time or book if you need space to do group work or you want a quiet place to sit.
Copying and Printing
Our reprographics department provides you with solutions to all your copying, printing, laminating and finishing needs with trained staff always ready to help with any queries.
Costa Coffee at the HUB
Meet up with friends and relax or use your free time for additional study while enjoying drinks and snacks.
The Carr Gym
If you want to ‘commit to keeping fit at college’ you’ll be pleased to hear that you automatically get FREE membership to the Leek College ‘Carr Gym’. This gives you FREE use of all gym and sports
equipment including treadmills, step and rowing machines plus a full set of exercise
equipment and free weights.
Bodyworks Salon
Whether you are looking to rejuvenate your body or go for a radical new hair style, Bodyworks salon offers an extensive range of services in comfortable surroundings. The salon offers students, staff and the public the very latest in hair, beauty and holistic treatments including:
