FREE Apprenticeship Breakfast for Employers

Do you know a local employer that might want to know more about taking on an Apprentice and the current grants available for them to do so?

Local employers are being invited to attend a FREE Breakfast event later this month to learn more about a £1500 grant being offering to small businesses taking on an Apprentice.

The “Apprenticeship Breakfast”, which takes place on Wednesday, 21st March at Westwood Golf Club in Leek, is being hosted by Leek College’s specialist employer services team, Skillsbase.

It aims to inform businesses about the advantages of the Apprenticeship Scheme following recent changes, whereby small businesses can receive £1500 (subject to availability) to help them pay the wage of an Apprentice. (The National minimum wage for Apprentice under 19 years is currently £98.80 per week.)

The event will include speakers from successful local Employers and their Apprentices talking about their own positive experiences of the Apprenticeship Scheme and how it can benefit both businesses and young people.

Leek College Sales & Marketing Manager Mara Hargreaves explained: “We have seen a huge increase in demand for Apprenticeships over the last three years, but some businesses are still a bit wary about the commitment of taking an Apprentice on.

“This event aims to demonstrate how other small local employers have been pleasantly surprised at how easy Skillsbase can make the process, and why this new grant offers smaller businesses a great opportunity in tough economic times. “

The event will start promptly at 8am and last for 1 hour, with guests invited to arrive for breakfast from 7.15am.

To book your place or find out more call 08456 250 250, email mara.hargreaves@skillsbase.co.uk or register at www.skillsbase.co.uk. (Please note: places are limited as is the funding available.)

The Skillsbase Team of 32 specialists, works with hundreds of employers locally to place suitable candidates with Apprenticeships in Engineering, IT, Accounting, Business & Administration, Children & Young People’s Workforce, Carpentry & Joinery, Hairdressing, Customer Service, Health & Social Care, Laboratory Technician, Process Manufacturing and Sales.
